I created a three spread arts magazine focusing on expressive typography, and hand lettering.
I wanted to push back against the academic representation of street art, and display that in terms of typography there is a lot of common ground between these two art forms. Since this project was more specifically focused on typography as a whole, I made my own use of typography the center of my process.
The entire piece is composed of two typefaces, and one spot color, not including pictures. I also thought it was important to bring artist’s work into their interviews, which is why there are tags that appear on multiple spreads, but also type designers’ letterforms and processes.
